During an ongoing demolition and licensed asbestos removal project the excavator unearthed unsuspected service ducts below the concrete slab, works were immediately ceased, and a sample was taken of a suspected material below the slab.

Laboratory analysis confirmed the material to contain Amosite asbestos fibres and CATC COMPLIANCE were appointed to manage and remove the asbestos material, The works were subjected to 14-day notification to the Health and Safety Executive and the areas were contained and secured impending the commencement of works.  

Under controlled conditions, working in conjunction with the demolition contractor and 360-degree excavator the asbestos which was glued to the underside of the slabs were safely removed intact and further precautionary measures were employed to remove the duct walls and perimeter building debris.

All works were conducted under personal and static pump air sampling including full visual inspection of the immediate and surrounding areas.
